Calcium Bentonite

What is Calcium Bentonite?
Calcium Bentonite is a mineral-rich substance that is formed from weathered and aged Volcanic Ash. This process enriches it with minerals and gives it it's clay-like texture.
Why Calcium Bentonite works for us

Calcium Bentonite isn’t just a humble clay—it’s a multi-talented mineral that’s earned its place in our Chunx! Sure, it doesn’t bring traditional nutrition like protein or fat to the table, but it’s a star performer in other ways. Here’s why we love it:
- Packed with Trace Minerals:
Calcium Bentonite is rich in calcium and magnesium—essential for enzymatic function, strong bones in fish, and shell growth in shrimp. Think of it as a mineral boost for your aquatic companions. - A Natural Detoxifier:
This clay is like a cleanup crew for your fish’s digestive system, binding to impurities and harmful substances to help flush them out. Healthy digestion, happy fish!
And let’s not forget its role as a natural binder—goodbye flour, hello streamlined, nutrient-packed Chunx! Calcium Bentonite proves that even the simplest ingredients can make a big difference.
How we process Calcium Bentonite

Our Calcium Bentonite comes in small granules. All we do on-site is grind it down to the appropriate size for our use. For example: We grind it down to 300 Microns for Baby Booster, but we leave it large and in-charge for our Chunx!
Sustainability and Ethics

Natural Abundance:
Calcium Bentonite is a naturally abundant resource, often found in easily accessible surface deposits. This reduces the need for extensive or invasive mining practices compared to harder-to-access minerals
Low-impact Extraction:
When responsibly managed, bentonite mining has a relatively low environmental footprint. Open-pit mining methods used for bentonite typically require less energy and resources compared to deep mining techniques.
Renewability:
While it’s not "renewable" in the traditional sense, bentonite deposits are vast, and extraction can be managed sustainably with proper land rehabilitation practices.
Reclamation Efforts:
Our Bentonite producers adhere to strict reclamation practices, restoring mined land to its natural state or repurposing it for agricultural use.
